Stop on going and nonstop execution in Iran
In
the first six months of 2017, at least 238 executions were carried out in Iran
as a part of oppressive policy against the people, including 12 public
hangings, seven women and contrary to all international conventions three
juvenile offenders.
129 persons were
executed for drug-related offences while other 5,000 remain on death row on
similar charges in Iran’s jail.
These executions
are in contravention of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Since the
beginning of July, Iran has seen a new wave of executions simultaneously with
the increasing the social protest against economic disintegration in Iran.
A total of 19
executions were carried out in the period from 1 to 5 July including two in public
as a social punishment and to fear the people from the consequences of new
uprising in Iran.
Iran oppressed people urges all international human rights
organizations particularly the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human
rights in Iran Mrs. Assemeh Jahangir to take urgent and effective measures to
halt executions and save the lives of death row prisoners.
