The report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran on August 14, 2017 documents the violation of human right s as well as highlights the massacre of thousands of innocent political prisoners who spend their prison time in the Iran regime in the summer of 1988 including men, women and teenagers and even pregnant women, and all political prisoners who supported the main opposition movement, the PMOI. Whereas the report states that these mass executions started pursuant to a fatwa issued by the then Supreme Leader, Khomeini; confirms previous revelations that high ranking current officials of the regime are responsible for the crime against humanity, including the former and the current Minister of Justice, a high court judge, and the head of one of the largest religious foundations which called Astan Quds Razavi and the supreme leader candidate in the May presidential elections.
Ms. Asima Jahangir's report as the special rapporteur on human right in Iran about on violation of human right and execution of teenagers in Iran is very is remarkable from two aspects: first, the report is brought up by United Nations as an international organization, so it opened the window of hope before the families of the victims, and second, there have been very different reactions among the perpetrators of massive massacre of 30,000 political prisoners among the regime's authorities, which can be well seen by their reactions and fear of this report. Because they have been trying for many years to keep this secret from the whole world and particular new generation in Iran. But now the 1988 massacre in Iran has become a domestic and international issue. That's why Iranian regime officials constantly tried to wash their hands and admit that the massacre was under Khomeini’s religious decree to run away from international condemnation.
It is imperative that the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council establish an independent and international investigation and a fact-finding mission into this great crime to find out the exact numbers of victims and their burial sites and identify those responsible for the crime and record the unprecedented massacre as a crime against humanity, and prepare the field for trail of criminals in the international court.
